Cafe Kino is a not-for-profit, and completely unfunded, arts space.

We are committed to supporting DIY arts and grassroots activism, and aim to work with promoters, groups, organisations, and individuals who share the qualities, outlooks and values that are important to us.

The events side of Cafe Kino (as well as other areas of the co-op) rely heavily on the voluntary time and effort given by our staff, who work hard to bring you a programme that we are very proud of.

ACCESSIBILITY

We are proud to be an all-ages venue. There are no age restrictions on any events at Cafe Kino unless otherwise stated.

The main entrance to the cafe is step-free and on the ground floor. However, most events take place in the basement area. Unfortunately, due to building restrictions, this space is only accessible by
stairs.

TUE 15 MAY 12

Woolf + Corey Orbison

8.30pm sharp!
£2 only

In a last minute addition to their current UK tour, we are very excited to announce that London's feminist noise-punk-wunderkinder, WOOLF, have agreed to stop by Kino for a special off-the-cuff performance with fellow non-wavers COREY ORBISON.

Pouncing from the fertive belly of London's underground DIY queer scene, WOOLF's take on punk and noise is as inventive as it is primitive, and as passionate as it is nonchalant.

Having put out a self-released cassette, followed by a split 7" with Trash Kit on Milk records, Woolf's brilliantly realised 13-minute debut LP has just been released on La Vida Es Un Mus. Full of short sharp kicks, off-kilter rhythms and pounding heart beats, its thrill is fuelled by a nervous energy, a bitter mouthful of spit, and a sly love of trash pop. These are simple songs made experimental by reassembling the parts in new ways - biting back the edges of the hardcore-punk jigsaw pieces to fit the new look.

Impulsive, rhythmic/off-rhythmic and erratic, COREY ORBISON combine jittery no-wave noise with disco desperation, cut-up tunes and an intense awkward-angled poise that threatens to fall apart at any moment, but rarely does - balanced as it is, tightrope-style, between structured chaos and complete disintegration. There are shouts and there are stammers and
words that tie the threads and beats together to perfect stops and starts...
