Cafe
Kino is a not-for-profit, and completely unfunded, arts space.
We are committed to supporting DIY arts and grassroots activism, and aim
to work with promoters, groups, organisations, and individuals who share
the qualities, outlooks and values that are important to us.
The events side of Cafe Kino (as well as other areas of the co-op) rely
heavily on the voluntary time and effort given by our staff, who work
hard to bring you a programme that we are very proud of.

ACCESSIBILITY
We are proud to be an all-ages venue. There are no age restrictions on
any events at Cafe Kino unless otherwise stated.
The main entrance to the cafe is step-free and on the ground floor. However,
most events take place in the basement area. Unfortunately, due to building
restrictions, this space is only accessible by
stairs.

MON 20
FEB 12
Pete Simonelli
+ Insect Ark
8.30pm - 10.30pm
£4
After Enablers visit to the Cube in October, the vocalist PETE SIMONELLI
from the San Francisco quartet returns for an intimate spoken word performance
at Cafe Kino.
This show will see Pete reading from his new book 'One Brittle Nerve'
and sharing new works. A native Californian, Pete spent eighteen formative
years in San Francisco, documenting, observing, drinking, reading, loving,
betraying, working, and writing... he moved east in 2008 and now makes
his home in Brooklyn, New York.
Expect winding tales from the noir-ish underbelly of the city in Pete's
muscular vocal style. Utterly compelling.

Touring with him will be INSECT ARK from New York City. A solo project
from Dana Schechter (Bee and Flower, Angels of Light, American Music Club).
Drawing from her decidedly more aggressive and experimental musical side,
INSECT ARK is composed and performed as an analog-electronic hybrid: one
woman, a sampler, a bass, a lap steel, and a keyboard.
